Follow the shore of the
Great Lake, see the Source of the Nile… drive through
the foothills of Mount Elgon… see the magnificent Sipi
Falls, the most beautiful and romantic waterfall in the whole
of Uganda.
Sipi is an ideal place to relax in the warm mountain sun and
to go for rambles in the shambas - homestead gardens- of the
local Sebei people. The camp is built around a croft-like house
originally built as a governor's retreat, on a cliff directly
overlooking the mesmerizing Sipi Falls and the Karmajong plains.
Sipi is about 4-5 hours drive from Kampala, passing the Source

Itinerary:
Day one
Leave for Sipi Falls on the slopes of Mount Elgon. Drive through
Mabira Forest and past vast sugar cane and tea plantations,
visiting Ssezibwa Falls en route. Arrive in time for a late
lunch. Rest of the day at leisure at the camp. Overnight Sipi
Falls Rest Camp on full board basis
Day two
After a leisurely breakast breakfast take a short hike with
a local guide or a ramble through the local Sabiny's shambas.
Late in the afternoon, take a gentle walk to the bottom of the
Sipi Falls and possibly walk up to the neighbouring Mnarya Caves.
Overnight Sipi Falls Rest Camp on full board basis.
Day three
After breakfast depart Sipi Falls for the drive back through
Mbale and onto Jinja in time for lunch. Visit Bujagali Falls,
the well-known Adrift Rafting base and source of the Nile. Arrive
back in Kampala late in the afternoon. |
