Just as you enter Masaka (on the road to Mbarara), there is a little food stand next to the gas station - I think its called Highway Takeaway - it has great food, especially their fries.Kabale has the semi-famous Hot Loaf Bakery, which is a good place for pasteries and mini-pizzas. I also recommend the local fried pork places (one is next door to the Visitour's Hotel - sorry I can't remember the name).

Kitoro (a little town in Entebbe, on the road to the airport) has the best grilled chicken I've ever had (my wife agreed when she had it). Stop at a place called Catch-21, order a beer, and let the boys approach you (don't actually order chicken from the restaurant; the best cooks make it on the homemade grills out on the road - the very best 'Chicken Boy' is named Jimba).
