A few kilometers from Kabale town lies Lake Bunyonyi,
the deepest crater lake (900 m) in the country, at an altitude
of 1 840 m doted with several islands. Lake Bunyonyi means "
place of little birds " and is particularly good for water
birds. It is a very scenic spot. The lake is also known for
it's crayfish. High lights: relaxing, scenery, swimming, birdwatching,
canoeing & boat trips - camping at the shores of the lake
or at one of the islands.
Distance (travelling time): 6h00 from Kampala and 3h30 from
Lake Mburo NP - From Kabale up to Lake Bunyonyi dirt road.

Excellent resting point before (or after) the strenuous gorilla
tracking. Switzerland of Africa!

and Bandas. Hot showers, bar and meals. Secure parking but you
have to carry your entire camp down a steep slope from the parking
area to the camping site. For those with a lot of equipment
help is available. Transport to and from Kabale will be arranged
via the Tourist Office at the Highland Hotel in Kabale. Canoe
trips and Mountain Bikes available for hire. A warm friendly
atmosphere.

Far Out Island Camp - This facility closed early 2003. It is
highly likely the infrastructure will be utilised for the opening
