Chimpanzees
are a major attraction in Uganda and may be seen in several
places, Kibale Forest Reserve near Fort Portal, Pabidi Forest
and Budongo Forest Reserve near Murchison Falls, and at the
chimps santuary on Ngamba Island in Lake Victoria. The Kibale
Forest National Park with mature tropical rainforests support
the highest number of primate species in Uganda, and one of
the highest primate densities in the world. There are 12 species
of primates located here: red colobus monkey, black-and-white
colobus monkey, redtail monkey, L’hoest’s monkey,
blue monkey, mangabey, olive baboons and several communities
of chimpanzee. A vist to the Jane Goodall Ngamba Chimp Island
is the highlight of the trip. |
